  1. In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. – Genesis 1:1

Wow! What a beautiful beginning verse for the beginning of the year 2025.

Did you know that in the beginning, in Genesis 1:1, God created the world perfect but only came into ruin in verse 2?

Gen. 1:2 The earth was (Heb. became) without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. (NKJV)

Gen. 1:2 And the earth was (Heb. became) a formless and desolate emptiness, and darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters. (NASB)

The Hebrew word for “was” in the first clause = became

According to Isaiah 45:18, The Lord that formed the earth did not created it in vain:

Isa. 45:18 For thus saith the LORD that created the heavens; God himself that formed the earth and made it; he hath established it, he created it not in vain, he formed it to be inhabited: I am the LORD; and there is none else. (KJV)

Isa. 45:18 For this is what the LORD says, He who created the heavens (He is the God who formed the earth and made it, He established it and did not create it as a waste place, but formed it to be inhabited): “I am the LORD, and there is no one else. (NASB)

    All of God’s works were said to be “good” seven times namely, Genesis 1:4, 10, 12, 18, 21, 25 & 31(very good).

The Lord’s work is “perfect”, Deuteronomy 32:4 He is the Rock, his work is perfect: for all his ways are judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is he. (KJV)

The Lord’s work is “wondrous”, Job 37:14 Hearken unto this, O Job: stand still, and consider the wondrous works of God. (KJV)

There is no room for evolution in God’s creation unless we deny God’s revelation.

Psalms 33:6 By the word of the LORD were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth. (KJV)

Psalms 33:6 The LORD merely spoke, and the heavens were created. He breathed the word, and all the stars were born. (NLT)
